Tokyo Outdoor
About this app
Tokyo Outdoor is a social platform for people in Japan to organize and join outdoor activities — skiing, diving, camping, hiking, climbing, and racket sports — and to connect with like-minded peers. You can post and browse activities, share community notes with photos, comment and like, send direct messages, join group chats, and browse a directory of service providers (coaches, lodging hosts, drivers). Tokyo Outdoor has no in-app purchases: any fee for an activity or service is settled in person, offline, directly between users — the app never collects or handles your payment details. Group chats are nickname-based, but every message is tied to a real authenticated account and can be moderated or removed by admins, so it is not anonymous; users can also report content and block other users. Activity locations are typed as free text — the app does not collect precise GPS location or track you in the background. Skiers, snowboarders, golfers and tennis and badminton players can also upload short videos of themselves; AI technique analysis by Google Gemini is optional for each video, and the body skeleton shown on the video is computed on your device.
Privacy Policy
This policy describes what Tokyo Outdoor collects and how we use it.
Data we collect
| Data | Linkage | Used for |
|---|---|---|
| Firebase Auth user ID | Linked to you | Identifies your account. Sign-in is by phone number, Apple, or Google. |
| Profile information | Linked to you | Your nickname, avatar, cover photo, and bio. Your nickname and avatar are shown publicly alongside anything you post — on activity cards, community notes and comments — including to signed-out visitors on tokyo-outdoor.com, and they may be indexed by search engines. Leave the avatar unset if you prefer not to show a photo; a coloured initial is used instead. If you apply to be a service provider (coach, lodging host, driver), the credential documents and showcase images you upload. |
| Content you create | Linked to you | Activities, community notes, comments, chat and group messages (including photos and voice messages), and photos you upload. Stored in Firestore and Firebase Storage. |
| Activity and social data | Linked to you | Favorites, follows, likes, read status, and your sign-ups and bookings. Stored in Firestore so they sync across devices. |
| Device push token | Linked to you | An Apple APNs token used to deliver notifications (messages, sign-up status, announcements). |
| Crash diagnostics | Not linked to you | Anonymous reports to fix bugs. |
| Sports videos you upload (optional) | Linked to you | Only if you use My videos / AI technique analysis (skiing, snowboarding, golf, tennis, badminton): the clip you choose, trimmed and compressed on your phone with the sound removed, its thumbnail, the sport and technique you picked, and the analysis result if you asked for one. Videos and thumbnails are private to you and are deleted automatically after 30 days; text analyses are kept until you delete them. The video shows your appearance. |
Third-party services
Tokyo Outdoor relies on these services to function. Each is bound by its own privacy policy.
- Firebase Authentication. Account login via phone number, Apple, or Google.
- Firestore (Google Cloud, Tokyo region). Stores your profile, content, social data, and bookings.
- Firebase Storage (Google Cloud). Stores images and voice messages you upload (avatars, cover photos, note/activity/chat photos, voice messages in chats, provider documents).
- Google Cloud Compute Engine (us-west1 region, United States). Hosts our own servers in the United States: the API server (api.tokyo-outdoor.com), which handles requests from the app and from tokyo-outdoor.com, including the photos and voice messages you upload; and the media server (media.tokyo-outdoor.com), through which images, voice messages and other media may be delivered. The media server only relays files from Firebase Storage, where they stay stored. To speed up delivery it may keep short-lived cached copies of images such as avatars, cover photos and post photos (up to about an hour); it does not cache media from chats or direct messages.
- Alibaba Cloud DashScope (Mainland China) — Qwen model. Used only when you tap the optional AI writing helper to tidy up text you wrote. Only the text you submit is sent over HTTPS — never your name, email, or any other identifier. If you never use the AI helper, nothing is sent to this service.
- Google Cloud Vertex AI — Gemini model (processed in the United States). Used only for videos you choose to analyse (AI technique analysis turned on). The clip (no audio), the sport and technique you picked and your interface language are sent over HTTPS — not your account ID, phone number or email, although the video itself shows your appearance. Videos you only upload are not sent. Google does not use them to train models; it may keep them briefly (up to about 24 hours) for caching and abuse monitoring.
- Apple Push Notification service (APNs). Delivers push notifications to your device.
AI processing
Tokyo Outdoor has two optional AI features, and nothing is sent to an AI provider unless you use them.
- AI writing helper — the text you ask it to tidy up is sent to Alibaba Cloud DashScope (Qwen). No user ID, email or other identifier is attached.
- AI technique analysis (skiing, snowboarding, golf, tennis, badminton) — when you upload a video with AI technique analysis turned on, the clip (no audio) is sent to Google Gemini on Google Cloud Vertex AI, processed in the United States, and is not used to train models. Videos uploaded with analysis turned off are not sent. The video shows the person's appearance, so only upload videos of yourself or of people who agreed. You can delete all your videos and analyses at any time in Settings → AI Features & Privacy (设置 → AI 功能与隐私).
We do not use your content to train any model.
Tracking
Tokyo Outdoor does not track you across other apps or websites. We do not share data with advertising networks, analytics platforms used for cross-app profiling, or data brokers.
Your rights
- Access — request a copy of your data by emailing us.
- Delete — see Delete Account below.
- Correct — edit your profile in the app, or email us for help.
- Object — opt out of optional features in iOS Settings.
Data retention
We keep your data while your account exists. When you delete your account, the data listed under Delete Account is deleted immediately — there is no waiting period. Records you share with other users (bookings, chat messages, reviews) are kept for them with your identity removed, as described there. Videos and thumbnails you upload to My videos are deleted automatically 30 days after upload, even if you keep your account. Anonymous diagnostics may be retained longer.
Children's privacy
Tokyo Outdoor is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy materially, we will notify you in the app and update the date at the bottom of this page.

- Do not impersonate someone else or misrepresent your identity.
Your content
You retain all rights to content you create in Tokyo Outdoor (recordings, notes, scores, favorites). You grant us a limited license to store and process that content solely to operate the app for you.
Disclaimer of warranties
Tokyo Outdoor is provided as is, without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or perfectly accurate output (especially AI-generated content).

From this website
If you cannot reach the in-app option, email support@cyohei.net with the subject Delete my outdoor account, and tell us your nickname and how you sign in (phone number, Apple or Google). We will confirm that the account is yours and delete it within 7 days, exactly as the in-app option does.
What gets deleted
- Your profile: nickname, avatar, cover photo, bio and region, plus any documents and showcase images you uploaded when applying to be a service provider.
- Your uploaded sports videos, thumbnails and AI technique analyses (and the consent record, if you gave one in an earlier app version).
- Community notes and comments you posted, and the photos in them. Likes and favourites other people gave your notes are removed with the notes.
- Every photo in your own upload folders (avatar, cover photo, activities, notes, provider application).
- Your follows in both directions, your likes and favourites, your block list, resort subscriptions, read markers, notifications, device push tokens, and any feedback or service requests you sent us.
- Activities you organized that nobody signed up for, together with their group chat.
- Upcoming sign-ups are cancelled through the normal cancellation flow. Upcoming activities you organized that other people signed up for are called off, and the participants are notified.
What is kept, without your identity
- Some records belong to other people as much as to you, so we keep them for those people and remove your identity: bookings (yours on other people's activities, and theirs on yours), messages you sent in group chats and direct messages (including photos sent there), reviews you wrote, and hearts (reputation marks) you gave. Your user ID on these records is replaced with a random placeholder, and your name is shown as 已注销用户 (“deleted user”).
- Activities that other people signed up for stay in their booking history, with your description, address and photos removed.
- Photos and text you contributed to the resort and venue guide remain part of the guide, without your name.
- Reports you filed and the cost records of your use of the AI writing helper are kept without your user ID. Crash reports have your user ID removed.
What is not deleted
- Your sign-in identity. Phone, Apple and Google sign-in is provided by Firebase Authentication, which is shared by all apps published by cyohei. Deleting your Tokyo Outdoor account does not delete that sign-in record, so any accounts you have in our other apps keep working. If you sign in to Tokyo Outdoor again, you get a new, empty account.
- Blocks other users placed on you stay in effect.
- Your name inside messages that were already delivered — for example a notification someone received saying that you signed up for their activity — and copies already saved by other people or cached by search engines.
- Local data on your device — deleting the app from your device removes it.
